Progress report – Sunday April 13, 2008

The weekend is nearly over, and I have to get back to work early in the morning. I’ve got a lot done; adding links, photo in the header, text and HTML in the sidbars, discovered the tabs at the top of the page! I’ve posted a few articles for folks to read, but really don’t have anything drafted for publication as the tech stuff took up all my time.

I did find some great sites; reddit, and blogrunner seem to be aggregators that are great for getting ideas from the web. And there seems to be a ‘posse’ of geek sites I’ve listed four; mathewingram.com/work, Plagiarism Today, Techbays, and Techmeme whose authors seem to hold each other in high regard. I know I was impressed by the few of their posts that I had time to read.

I was able to insert a feed widget for Blogrunner, in the sidebar and I’ll try to do the same for reddit.  It would seem that the ‘text’ widget will manage everything except video embeds, and I think an up-grade will deliver that function. The limit of nine text widgets seems to be enough for my purposes. When I get time, I’ll try out some ‘tables’ with background colors that work with this layout’s color scheme.

I’m looking at the way ‘pages’ can be ordered, and ‘parented’. I was able to insert a ‘table of contents’ on a page, and that page was assigned a tab at the top of my page! I like that, I’ll be working on a better ‘about me’ page soon. But first, I really have to develop the ‘Campaign 2008′ project ( I was able to insert ‘click-able photo links’ that take the reader to the candidates home page. That’s a real plus, being able to use HTML in the side-bars.

Well, it’s bed time. I’ll be back in the afternoon to do some more work on the page. Maybe I’ll have an inspiration for something to post. All I read to today was about an rss reader that allows you to comment without going to the page, wow, Multiplly wouldn’t like that!

Oh. One more thing…I was amused to see that one of the tech’s ( geeks ) that I linked to, has a page here at WordPress, and guess what…he has an identical layout! What a hoot! Check him out if you get a chance, Techbays .
